Summer Romance Tablescapes

August 31, 2009 by Southern Weddings in Inspirations | 5 comments

We’ve had tables on the brain lately, so when Michelle from Lemiga Events sent these tablescapes our way, we knew we had to share them with you all. The knockout collection of vendors assembled by StudioWed put together three different scenes to inspire summer fetes.

First up was an eco look fleshed out with wheat grass centerpieces, twining nests, and a slight hint of pink. Burlap and twigs added earthy and inexpensive texture to the table.

Contributing vendors:

Table Design by Favor Events

Flowers by Chelsea Floral Design

Cake by Sugarplum Visions

Stationery by Luxe Expressions

Up next was a modern, lush, peacock-inspired table. Custom linens and lighting added to the rich purple, turquoise, and brown color palette.

Contributing vendors:

Table Design: Kis3

Floral design: SHOSHO Designs

Stationery: Ink & Paint

Favors: M Cupcakes

Lastly we have the “Summer Romance” tablescape, complete with textured linen, deliciously ripe peaches, and lush, crinkled blooms. We’re loving the addition of limonata to the table… yum!

Contributing Vendors:

Table Design: Lemiga Events

Floral Design: Tulip

Stationery: Luxe Expressions

Wedding cake: Sweet Sensations

And now for the extra-special vendors who contributed to all three tablescapes:

Photography & Lighting: Blue World Studios

Rentals: Event Rentals Unlimited

Linens: I Do Linens

Thanks so much, Michelle and StudioWed, for sending these our way! Readers, we’re curious to know: what has inspired your wedding’s tablescapes?

I love all the different ideas here.

I was just asked to create a peacock wedding garter! I can't wait to do it :) It will be so pretty.

Real Tennessee Wedding: Julia + Caleb

Sometimes, it really is all about the love, you know?  We didn’t get the usual number of detail shots from photographer Tec Petaja with this submission, but the portraits he sent are just take-your-breath-away lovely.  Best friends since fourth grade and dating since high school, Julia + Caleb tied the knot surrounded by their closest family and friends.  I may have started getting a little teary-eyed when I read Caleb’s proposal story.  (Check it out below!)  Even though the details weren’t the focus of the day, Julia and Caleb brought together a great team that carried off the intimate and sweet vibe they were after.  The reception was held at The Factory at Franklin, Carolyn’s Catering provided the food, Dessert Designs baked the cake and Big Events Wedding prepared the florals and coordinated it all.   Julia looked almost ethereal in her August Jones dress, while her maids looked lovely in Melissa Sweet.  Thanks again to our favorite Tec Petaja sending these images our way, and to Julia and Caleb for letting us peek into your celebration!  See a few more images on Tec’s blog!

How did the two of you meet? Tell us your story. We’ve been best friends since the 4th grade and our families have always been very close. We can barely remember a time when we haven’t know each other. We started dating my junior year of high school and never stopped!

Describe the proposal: Caleb told me we would be going to Paducah to pick up a guitar from his grandfather’s store in preparation for his father’s birthday.  I was excited for the road trip! When we got there, Caleb blindfolded me and told me he had an early Christmas present for me. Hepulled the car over and walked me over to what felt like a stonepillar. I still had no idea what was happening until he took myhand and put it on his heart. (It was pounding so fast!) That’s when I knew exactly what was going on and where we were. We were atNoble Park and in the very same gazebo where his father had proposed to his mother twenty-four years earlier. Caleb got down on one knee andproposed and, I, of course, said yes! When we drove home, ourfamilies were already waiting to celebrate with us!
What was the design inspiration for your wedding? An intimate and sweet wedding at home with a vintage flair.

Favorite design element of your big day: I loved the flowers. I also loved that we didn’t have to decorate very much because the ceremony took place beside a lake. We just let the natural beauty shine through.
Tell us about finding your wedding dress: I found my wedding dress the first day I went shopping at The Bride Room in Nashville. was the last dress I tried on, but I knew right away that it was the dress for me.
Describe your wedding flowers: My bouquet had blue delphiniums, white hydrangeas and white

scabiosis with cream-colored spray roses.
Describe your wedding cake: We had a four-tier round pound cake with buttercream icing and caramel filling. The cake was decorated with flowers like the ones on our wedding invitations and sat on a vintage iron cake plateau.

Were there any special family traditions you included in the wedding? The suitcase that held our programs belonged to Caleb’s Grandmother. I also carried a handkerchief that my Great-Grandmother crocheted around my bouquet.

What was your most memorable moment about your wedding day? Our wedding vows and first kiss. That made it official!

Funniest moment? Caleb’s brother, Will, performing a rap he wrote instead of a speech. It was hilarious and very embarrassing.

Hardest decision you made in planning? How to honor my Grandfather and Caleb’s little sister, Maria, who had passed away about a year earlier. We had pictures of both of them beside the guest book and, since Maria was the queen of crafts, threw flowers cut out of bright pink paper she would have loved!

What advice would you give to someone planning their wedding? To enjoy the process and to remember that it’s about the marriage and not the details of the wedding day.

Congratulations, Julia + Caleb!  Thank you for sharing your day with us!

A big thank you to our fabulous team of photographers who made the Watercolor Shoot last week come to life.  These incredible photographers posted a few sneak peeks on Twitter last week and I just had to share them.  How gorgeous are these!? Clockwise from top left: Fred Egan shot the stunning Annette Thurmon on the beach last Sunday morning in a divine Nicole Miller gown, hair and make-up by Two Fishes Artistry, styling by Joy Thigpen, location Watercolor Resort. Jeff Holt wowed us with this lovely portrait. Headpiece by Twigs and Honey.  Another fun shot from Fred Egan.  Green seersucker dress from Coren Moore, styling by Joy Thigpen. Jory Cordy captured Lauren and Dan in Carillion Park on film.  Dress by Nicole Miller from Nouveau Flowers, headpiece by Sweetpea and Fawn, Hair and Makeup by Two Fishes Artistry.  For more behind the scenes pics, check out the shots I posted on Twitter last week.

Our next print edition debuts in just a couple short months.  Email us to be a part of it.

Southern Wedding of the Week: Mallori + Tory, Part II

Todd Pellowe really does such great work and, lucky for you, we have more images to share from Mallori + Tory’s Kentucky shindig, planned and produced by Lauren Chitwood of LC Events!  We think it is especially sweet that the couple used the very same caterer and wedding cake baker (All the Way Shoppe’s own Linda Aldrige) who catered Mallori’s parents’ big day!  And, folks, the undeniably great time the newlyweds and their guests had at the tented reception despite the evening rain proves the weather on your wedding day isn’t nearly as important as the people there to celebrate with you.  Happy weekend!

Our favorite detail of the wedding was:  Our favorite detail was, of course, the country-style horse and carriage that brought my bridesmaids and me from the house to the ceremony site. Standing behind the carriage, my father and I waited until all my bridesmaids were down the aisle. On cue, the carriage ran off and we were left standing there at the end of the aisle. It was perfect!

Were there any special family traditions you included in the wedding? Tory and I chose the same caterer who also had catered my parent’s wedding twenty-five years ago.

The most unexpected event on our wedding day was:  My father surprised us with fireworks during the reception. They were a beautiful and wonderful way to end the evening!

Three adjectives that describe the day are:  Carefree, rustic and elegant.

I love the centerpieces! They are so simple, yet so unique. I'm also in love with the bride's dress. Is it a Monique Lhuillier?

Southern Wedding of the Week: Mallori + Tory, Part I

Prepare yourself for what can only be described as the inspiration for Southern weddings everywhere!  Naturally, such an amazing wedding had to come from an equally amazing photographer.  (Thank you, Todd Pellowe!)  To be honest, I’m so overwhelmed by all the amazing Southern details in Mallori + Tory’s outdoor Kentucky wedding at the bride’s family home that I don’t know where to start.  But first things first: how adorable are the bridesmaids’ bright yellow heels and color-coordinated blue frocks?  While Emily can tell you how madly in love I am with Mallori’s form-fitting Monique Lhuillier lace gown (I’ve been raving about it all week!), I feel I must point out how the fresh wildflower bouquets and sweet yellow mum ring pillow from Pathelen Flowers and horse-drawn carriage make for a perfectly rustic (and ultra-Southern) affair. A nd yes, this wedding is so good we just had to treat you to another image board!  Check back soon for more fun and fabulous photos from the amazing Todd Pellowe!

How did the two of you meet? Tell us your story.   We met in December of 2001 at our high school Christmas dance. Although our first dance was to “You Had Me From Hello” by Kenny Chesney, our relationship didn’t truly begin until a year later during Tory’s senior year. Even then, I had to ask Tory out on a date two times (yes, I did the asking!) until he finally agreed to go. In the end, my efforts finally paid off and we quickly became high school sweethearts. Tory, however, soon left for college and we both realized that we each had a lot of growing up to do. FINALLY, after Tory’s return from living and studying in Australia in the Fall of 2005, we no longer had any doubts. Four years later, here we are!

Describe the proposal:   The proposal was a scavenger hunt like the T.V. show Amazing Race.  It lasted about 6 hours!  Each location of the scavenger hunt represented an important part of our relationship. Tory asked one of my best friends to drive me around while a video camera was recording every minute of the night. At each location, family members were there to direct me to my next clue and, consequently, my next location. Each clue led me to believe that Tory would be at the next location. Sixteen stops later, I had been sent all over Louisville & Shelbyville, Kentucky and still hadn’t reached my final destination. The final clue led me to my parent’s house where Tory was there waiting for me outside by the pool with a candlelit path showing me the way. Being high school sweethearts, my parent’s house represents many sweet memories and is an important part of our relationship. For Tory to have proposed anywhere else wouldn’t have seemed right!

What was the design inspiration for your wedding?  My parents’ rustic log home was our inspiration for the entire wedding design. We wanted simple elegance with a rustic twist. Our centerpieces consisted of watering cans and antique bottles overflowing with flowers.
