We’re ending the week with something lovely for you for you, courtesy of our friends at Vue Photography. (Well, a few lovely somethings, to be precise.) Ashley + Steve said “I do” at The Waters Chapel Hill Meeting House in Alabama. The bride wowed in a classic Lazaro gown and blue Badgley Mischka heels. (Her worn-in Double H boots were on-hand for post-ceremony fun!) Ashley’s maids brightened up the day in rich coral Amsale frocks and carried rosy blooms from Jill Sampson at Weddings by Jill. Emily oohed and ahhed over A + S’ reception all day yesterday, so be sure to stop by later this afternoon for a peek at their ultra-Southern celebration!

How did the two of you meet? Tell us your story. Some girlfriends of mine invited me to have dinner with them at a Mexican joint for the birthday of a guy friend of theirs. We were almost finished with dinner when a cute guy walked in and sat down at the opposite end of the table. I immediately texted my friend who was across the table and knew the guy to tell her that he was really cute. He told her the exact same thing about me. We ended up talking the rest of the night. When we were parting ways for the evening, he got my number and that’s how our fairytale began!
Describe the proposal. Steve and I had been dating for 4 years before he proposed. We lived in separate cities and alternated driving back and fourth every weekend. On his weekend to come visit me, we went to dinner. He was acting a little strange and telling me he wasn’t sure if he was ready for marriage. When we got back to my place, he quickly hopped out of the car and ran inside, which I thought was kind of rude! When I came inside, he asked me to get him a beer out of the fridge. I gave Steve the beer, but he told me he wanted the other kind. So once again, I went back to the fridge only to realize that I hadn’t noticed the ring box he strategically placed for me to find in the side door by the beer. He then got down on one knee in the dinning room and popped the question in true Steve fashion!
Three adjectives that describe the day are: Eclectic, laidback, joyful
Our favorite detail of the wedding was: One of our many favorite details is probably the music played at the ceremony by Kurt McKinney on a classical guitar. The songs played for the ceremony were all Beatles tunes except for the solo sung by Stephanie Long. The music was absolutely perfect and totally us. Steve also wants to point out that we had Metallica and Zeppelin songs along with many of our other favorite artist played during the prelude.
What Southern details or traditions did you include in your celebration? What was Southern about your wedding? Because our wedding was the weekend before Thanksgiving our dinner menu consisted of turkey, sweet potatoes, green beans and the whole 9 yards when it comes to a southern Thanksgiving. The presentation was eclectic, with natural elements such as reclaimed wood stumps, vintage mason jars and twine.
