This wedding was a full on Southern celebration! A look of “easy, boundless happiness,” as the bride calls it, was created by colorful wildflowers from Harvey Designs, strands of ribbon hanging from above and everyone’s favorite mood-setter, string lights! Good ol’ bluegrass from Triple Lindy had the crowd dancing while a table full of sugary bliss sat nearby in case anyone needed an energy boost. And who wouldn’t want to dig into some pecan-topped cookies or a wedding cake decorated with rock candy?? Two Cakes made the chic and sparkly confection and topped it with spun sugar. It looks just like cotton and fits perfectly with the Southern charm of Towne + Andy’s wedding. Thanks again to Nate Henderson for sharing this colorful wedding!

Tell us about finding your wedding dress: It was meant to be. I had searched Chicago and Savannah for something gorgeous and sample-priced but was quickly running out of time and luck. Then, during a snowstorm, I got the notion that I could go to Vera Wang and somehow barter for one of their exquisite dresses. In a most unexpected twist of fate, the gown I fell in love with happened to have a twin… a sample! With no bartering necessary, I practically floated out of the dress shop knowing that a bargain had been found in the most unlikely place and it just so happened to be for my dream dress!
Describe your wedding flowers: Nothing says easy, boundless happiness to me quite like a bouquet of wildflowers. Amy Harvey, our floral designer, interpreted that notion with elevated bouquets of garden roses, ranunculus, lisianthus, sweet peas, double blooming tulips, viburnum, freesia, scabiosa, craspedia and phlox in shades of peachy pink, green, soft yellow, coral/orange, blue and white.
Describe your wedding cake: We opted for three smaller cakes over one grand tiered confection. The main cake was butter pound cake with buttercream icing. Our baker and I worked together on the idea to adorn the cake with light slate gray colored rock candy bits. Instead of the traditional topper, I asked that she make an organic shape from spun sugar. It was delicious! The other two cakes were vanilla and chocolate options with corresponding butter cream icing and a few select wildflower blooms to top them.
What was the biggest challenge you had to overcome while planning your wedding? We were most concerned with the communication and all that goes with each of us having two sets of parents coupled with a somewhat poor match between our vision and that of the original planner’s. It was a balancing act, but it all worked out wonderfully.
What range did your wedding budget fall into? $25,000-$50,000
What is the one thing you are most happy you splurged on? The live band!
Did you write your own vows? If so, what was your favorite phrase, verse or line? Yes. We kept them similar in style and cadence to traditional vows. My favorite part was that we made our promises to be kept “through all the changes of our lives”.
What’s next for you as a couple? What are you looking forward to in the future? Hopefully a lifetime of fabulous adventures! We are both looking forward to the possibility of grad school. We will definitely world-travel whenever possible, and want a family, for sure!
