Lucky to be living in the Southern Part of Heaven, and appropriately, where Southern Weddings is located, Nicole started out as a summer intern before she became Southern Weddings’ Art Director. Originally a wedding newbie with a well-suppressed love for them, she is now well on her way to filling her laptop’s hard-drive with her favorite wedding inspiration and DIY ideas, along with photos of bookcases and pugs. Nicole is an avid list-maker, color-swatch-collector, and office-supply-lover. She’s Pinterest-obsessed, loves crafting and cooking and can bake a mean pan of apple skillet brownies.

Hometown: Charlotte, North Cackalacky. Just kidding. North Carolina.

Alma Mater: University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Go Heels!

Major: Journalism, with a concentration in editing and graphic design.

Birthday: July 31, the same as Harry Potter!

How I got into weddings: It was a slow process that began when I started stealing my sister’s Martha Stewart Weddings magazines, was fueled by girls’ nights watching Say Yes to the Dress, and finally turned into a full love affair when I came across blogs like Southern Weddings, Style Me Pretty, 100 Layer Cake and Ruffled.

Favorite food: This is so hard to answer, I love all foods! But I’ll say sushi or ice cream.
Favorite color: Orange
Favorite non-wedding blog or site: Oh So Beautiful Paper, A Cozy Kitchen and Little Green Notebook.
Favorite part about working at SW: I get to look at gorgeous wedding details all day and read the sweetest wedding proposals! Plus, I work with some pretty cool ladies. You should get to know them.
I am committed to: My family and friends, experiencing life, learning to love, good food and post-its.
I love: my life, bright colors, driving with the windows down, and talking into the night.
I know: It always gets better.
My motto: Love and take risks.

If money, time, and space were no object…

Jose Villa or Erin Hearts Court would shoot my wedding..
My friends and family would help me pull all the details together.
Neil Patrick Harris would be a VIP guest. You know he’d make a hilarious toast!
I would wear “L251″ by Legends by Romona Keveza
We would hold the ceremony in the middle of the Acropolis in Greece…or a vineyard in Italy, to be more practical.

I would get myself prettified.

David Beahm would make me a gorgeous bouquet of cream peonies.
We would eat tapas and sushi
My cake would be three tiers of three different flavors with buttercream frosting and fresh flowers on top.
Our first dance song would be something slow and sweet.

Guests would then boogie/waltz/sock-hop to a full jazz band wearing white dinner jackets
We would honeymoon-hop through the Mediterranean, hitting Italy, Greece, Morocco and Turkey.
My china pattern would be Vera Wang Wedgwood “Gilded Weave.”

In a nutshell:

Big wedding or small wedding? Small wedding
Band or DJ? Band
Camping or glamping? Glamping. As much I’d like to be low-key and say camping, I really can’t do bugs. Yes, that is a deciding factor for me.

Cake or pie? Pie all the way. Pie crust is one of my favorite things on earth. The inside is good, too.
Breakfast or dinner? Breakfast! I secretly want my future fiancé to propose to me over breakfast with fresh-squeezed orange juice within reach to toast with.
City or country? Country with a city nearby.
Mountains or ocean? Mountains
Seersucker or gingham? Gingham
Boots or sneakers? Boots
Night owl or early bird? I can be either or neither. Is there a bird term for someone who functions best in the middle of the day?
French fries or milkshake? How about sweet potato fries? Yes, please!
