Whitney has followed her darling boyfriend up North and now resides in the Big Apple. She’s planning on shipping in lots of Southern sweet tea. See her farewell here and here.
Whitney, SW’s former Advertising Director, is a Carolina girl through and through. Born in Raleigh, Whitney then attended the University of North Carolina where she majored in public relations. Whitney has a love affair with all things preppy, particularly monograms and J. Crew. She is addicted to Starbucks and wouldn’t mind having a Starbucks open bar at her (distant) wedding. Whitney is an avid traveler and claims the self-appointed title of “World’s Best Macaroon Baker.” Someday she plans to Southern-ize the whole world.

Hometown: Raleigh, NC a.k.a. Raleighwood, Rough Raleigh, the 919 (our area code)
Favorite food: do caramel Frappuccinos count as food?
Favorite color: Navy blue, not to be confused with Duke blue
Favorite non-wedding blog or site: I’m quite obsessed with interior design blogs. Some of my favorites are Coco + Kelley, Black*Eiffel and Habitually Chic. I also love Rue La La. Hello, sample sales!
Favorite part about working at SW: By far, my favorite part about working at SW is the amazing people that I have been able to meet. All of the SW girls are quite simply awesome and I love working with them. Looking at gorgeous engagement shoots isn’t so bad, either!

You would be surprised to know: that I have a secret desire to drive a race car.
I am committed to: living a full and ultimately happy life.
I love: making new friends and building relationships
I know: that trying and failing is better than not trying at all.
My motto: Do what you love and love what you do.

If money, time, and space were no object…
Jose Villa would shoot my wedding.
Emily Ayer would help me pull all the details together. (Please, Em?)
I would wear Monique Lhuillier… and Christian Louboutin heels. Dreamy.
we would hold the ceremony at Tryon Place, a gorgeous North Carolina plantation.
and the reception would be held outdoors, under the stars.
Bobbi Brown would get me prettified.
Jeff Leatham would make me a gorgeous bouquet of hydrangeas and peonies.
we would eat Southern comfort foods with a modern twist.
my cake would be a classic three-tiered cake. Each tier would be a different, delicious flavor.
our first dance song would be “Your Song” by Elton John.
guests would then boogie/waltz/sock-hop to Backstreet Boys and N’SYNC. You may think I’m kidding, but I’m not. I love my 90’s boy bands!
we would honeymoon in Europe, though the specific location is TBD.
my china pattern would be Kate Spade Library Lane.

Big wedding or small wedding? Big wedding! All of my friends must be in attendance!
Band or DJ? Band, please!
Camping or glamping? Confession: I’ve never actually been camping. I’m sure I could survive glamping though.
Cake or pie? Let me eat cake! Homemade, preferably.
Breakfast or dinner? Breakfast is my favorite meal of the day. I never skip it.
City or country? I love the city. There’s always something to do!
Mountains or ocean? I love the ocean. I love playing in the waves, and learning to surf is definitely on my to-do list.
Seersucker or gingham? Seersucker. Completely. I have no problem with full seersucker suits.
Boots or sneakers? I.am.obsessed.with.boots. I have rain boots, cowboy boots, black boots and brown boots and I’m looking to add to my collection.
Night owl or early bird? I adore the mornings! I can’t sleep past 8am. I also have a hard time staying up past midnight.
French fries or milkshake? Sweet potato fries!

Isn't it beautiful? The monogrammed tote bag is actually a DIY idea from ashleyannphotography.com.

If you decide to try your hand at being crafty and making your own tote, be sure to send me a picture!

You women are so awesome and spunky! I have looked at your Southern Wedding Magazine and I am in AWE.. at the beauty and fun. It makes me look forward to my fiance' and My wedding in October. But We know its going to be hard to do cause right now our budget is $0.00, But I see all the easy ways to decorate with having to spend a and still have a beautiful wedding and reception. You ladies and the brides you feature make it so much easier to be hopeful and have a positive outlook to our up coming Wedding. Thank you so much. Oh and the website is just in case you would like to know who I am and about our wedding sort of, not trying to promote anything.
