Real North Carolina Wedding: Farren + Kevin, Part II

Farren + Kevin’s Airlie Gardens celebration is everything a real Southern wedding should be: sweet, romantic and effortlessly elegant. The ultra-feminine flowers, styled by Salt Harbor Designs, are perfect for the couple’s outdoor garden party, and Emily + I actually may be more in love with their clean wooden tablescape now than we were last year. To participate in the evening’s lawn games (what’s more Southern than cornhold and croquet?), the bride swapped her dramatic cathedral-length veil for a flirty hairpiece from Lo Boheme. Love Farren + Kevin’s wedding from Millie Holloman Photography? Get your copy of V3 here!

Real North Carolina Wedding: Farren + Kevin, Part I

We featured so many lovely real weddings in V3, but few seem as perfect for the first day of spring as Farren + Kevin’s North Carolina nuptials at the Airlie Gardens. The talented Millie Holloman photographed the high school sweethearts, and Salt Harbor Designs styled their Wilmington wedding. Farren, who wowed in a romantic Melissa Sweet gown and matching veil, showed us how to do pink the right way with her maids’ chic frocks (also by Melissa Sweet) and ladylike bouquets, courtesy of the team at Salt Harbor Designs. It’s the parting shot of the bridal party beneath colorful parasols that really makes me swoon, though.

Real Texas Wedding: Kristin + Kincaid, Part II

We’re back with Part II of Kristin + Kincaid’s wedding at the Lone Star state’s Gage Hotel. Yep, still in love. After the “I dos,” guests grooved to the classic rock + soul tunes of Austin-based HOTWAX. (The bride boasts her new husband stole the show with his moves, and we don’t doubt it for a minute.) Rings are kind of my thing (surprise, surprise), and Anne Marie’s photo of the couple’s ring clipped to a clothesline just tickles me. First time seeing K + K’s vibrant wedding? Get your own copy of V3 for this and other real Southern weddings.

Real Texas Wedding: Kristin + Kincaid, Part I

This weekend’s Daylight Savings change sure did a number on me, but the extra hour of sunshine (yippee!) was more than worth it. What better way to ring in the longer days of spring than with a behind-the-scenes peek at Kristin + Kincaid’s Texas wedding, courtesy of Anne Marie Photography. K + K celebrated their May nuptials with a veritable ranch-sized celebration (275 guests, y’all!) at the famous Gage Hotel that was tailor-made for this photographer bride and her ranch manager sweetheart. The Western-themed bash was offset by a bright color palette of yellows (the bridesmaids’ ruffled Bella Bridesmaid frocks were a V3 fan favorite) and green (the florals from Statue of Destin had a Wild West flair). The bride’s favorite detail? “I could not live without my dress,” Kristin gushed of her flowered Amsale gown.

Real North Carolina Wedding: Engle + Brian, Part II

Engle + Brian’s reception at the Harbourside Pavilion on Bald Head Island is yellow and blue and sunny all over! The couple’s seaside portraits from Kristin Byrum Photography are making us crave longer days (three cheers for Daylight Savings!) and warmer months. My favorite detail of this North Carolina wedding, though? The nautical masterpiece that was the couple’s wedding cake, courtesy of the talented team at Crumb de la Crumb.

Tell us about finding your wedding dress: My Mom, sister and I went dress shopping over Labor Day weekend, and visited the three major bridal salons in the Charlotte area. My last stop was at J. Majors. I tried on about 15 dresses at each of the three stores. The last dress I tried on at J Majors was the one! I walked out of the dressing room and I saw my sister look over to my Mom and say, “This is definitely IT!” And so it was. One day of dress shopping and I saved the best for last!
Describe your wedding flowers: One word: STUNNING! Kim Fisher does an amazing job of getting to know her couples, and really searches for the flowers that reflect their individual style. I carried a hand-tied bouquet of creamy white David Austin garden roses and phaleonopsis orchid blossoms. And the boutonnieres were so unique: yellow billy balls and blackberries. Our guests still talk to me about our flowers!
Describe your wedding cake: I love butter cream, so I asked for plenty of it! We had three layers, and kept the top layer for our one year anniversary. The bottom and top layers were Petron-infused and the middle was Key Lime-infused.
What was your most memorable moment about your wedding day? Entering the chapel, for sure. I remember standing in the back of the church and hearing the organ pipes start playing the “Bridal Chorus.” I was so overcome with emotion. When I turned the corner, I saw Brian mouth, “Wow.” No one was in the church but me and Brian, or so it felt. Right after my Dad gave me away, Brian whispered, “You look beautiful. You are my angel.” I remember everything about our ceremony.
What’s next for you as a couple? What are you looking forward to in the future? We look forward to officially starting our life together and making a life of our own. We purchased a home before the wedding and just started decorating the house. The next “married” task: organizing our wedding photos from the amazing Kristin Byrum Photography and hanging them on our walls! I simply cannot wait to display our wedding images.
