Best of Southern Weddings 2012: Accessories

December 31, 2012 by Nicole in Fashion and Style,Main | 0 comments

Aside from your wedding dress, accessories are potentially the most fun parts of your wedding day ensemble to pick out. We love that our favorites from 2012 show off the bold, the fun and the personalized.

Yep, monogrammed cowboy boots. A favorite this year and all over Pinterest! Photo by Kelly Hornberger from Lindsay + Jonathan’s wedding.

A short veil dotted with crystals: photo by KT Merry from Cee Cee + Chad’s wedding.

Sparkly copper flats (also a Pinterest favorite!): photo by The Nichols from Stacey + Adam’s wedding.

A romantic pink feather fascinator: photo by Ali Harper from Kim + Mark’s wedding.

And finally, a monogrammed vintage fur: photo by Mark Williams Studio from Marielle + Michael’s wedding.

December 28, 2012 by Nicole in Fashion and Style,Main | 1 comment

Oh, our dapper gents! I do love seeing what the grooms and groomsmen will don on the big day as much as I love finding out which dress the bride chose. Watching all these Southern gents clean up nicely is another reason why we love them so.

Best of Southern Weddings 2012: Bridesmaid Dresses

December 27, 2012 by Emily in Fashion and Style,Main | 2 comments

If you’re going to have as laaaaaaarge bridal parties as we typically do in the South, you might as well clothe them in something good! Here, ten of our 2012 favorites.

Bright red frocks and shawls from Ciarla: photo by Adam Barnes from Blair and Luke’s wedding.

Teal ruffle-neck cocktail dresses from Lula Kate: photo by Pasha Belman from Hillary + Kyle’s wedding.

Long dusty pink gowns from Jasmine Bridal with faux fur shrugs: photo by Mark Williams Studio from Marielle + Michael’s wedding.

More gorgeous ruffle-neck dresses with pink sashes from Lula Kate: photo by Kim Box Photography from Crystal + Trip’s wedding.

Happy pastel mix and match dresses: photo by White Rabbit Studios from Elizabeth + Michael’s wedding.

Periwinkle bow short dresses from JCrew: photo by Leslee Mitchell from Nicole + Rob’s wedding.

Lacy navy dresses from Anthropologie: photo by Nathan Westerfield from Amelia + Dan’s wedding.

We’re calling these two a tie since they’re so similar! On top, photo by Robyn Van Dyke from Ali + Austin’s wedding, and on bottom, photo by The Reason from Melanie + Cale’s wedding.

Aqua satin cocktail dresses from Priscilla of Boston: photo by Justin DeMutiis from Jessica + Derek’s wedding.

Long skirts with white tanks: photo by Tim Will from Elizabeth + Alex’s wedding. (SO sorry, but we still don’t know the designer on these! They were too popular not to include :)

The best of this year’s wedding gowns span the spectrum from glamorous to alternative, dramatic to handmade. There’s something we love about all of them, so thank goodness we don’t have to narrow it down any further!

Bridal Market 2012 Part 6: Kelly, Matthew, Marissa, Kristin

Yes, we’re back with one last Bridal Market post! If you haven’t been keeping up on the blog, be sure to take a gander at all the previous posts. It’s one pretty page after another!

Let’s start with Miss Kelly Faetanini. Isn’t her purple peplum outfit adorable?

Okay, onto dresses! Kelly’s collection was what I like to call wearable fashion forward. Each gown had on-point style trends without being too risky for real brides to try on their wedding days.

I love the layered lace peplum of this tulle ball gown, and the best part… it’s removable! How clever is Kelly? What a fun way to wear the trend, but have the option for a more classic tulle ball gown look. I also adore the bustle in the front of the dress on the bottom left. This fit-to-flare gown is made of silk santung. Fancy!

Oh, and this finale! My oh my! Kristin and I literally gasped when this gown came down the runway. The simple silk satin fit-to-flare is accented perfectly with a lilac ombre-feathered skirt. Talk about wow factor! After the show, we couldn’t stop talking about those ombre feathers!

Now let’s talk glam! Matthew Christopher’s 2013 Couture collection was all about glamourous red carpet-esque gowns, and I’m all about that!

Classic silhouettes with luxe details gave the MC collection a sophisticated feel. Opulent silk satin was mixed with raw-edged organza flowers to combine into romantic pieces. My favorite has to be the Toujour L’Amour (on the bottom right) — this gown was inspired by cathedrals, and features a silk duchess bodice wrapped in elaborate beading, raw edge ruffles and crystals and pearls in a heart-shaped motif. Tres chic!

In between shows we were thrilled to be able to shoot a little Street Style session with our awesome photographer Kat Harris! She even snagged these behind-the-scenes shots of us running between shows. Yes, I am totally into my iPhone in both shots – either tweeting, or more likely trying to map out directions to the next show!

Isn’t Kristin adorable? That girl has sass! I’ll let you in on a little secret: this is my favorite outfit, and I wanted to wear it the entire trip! (I didn’t, though!)

Kat asked us to do our serious face. Well, you see how long that lasted! Want to know a little more about our outfits? Check out Kat’s blog! She featured US in her Refined Woman series. We’re so honored!

Thanks again to Kat for all of these images!

But wait, have you STILL not had enough Bridal Market 2012 goodness yet? Be sure to check out our designated board for all of this year’s styles, and set aside some time to watch the videos our friends at Lover.ly put together! The one for Anne Barge’s show is below, but you can see more designers here!
