V5 Behind the Scenes: The Yellow Rose of Texas Film + Giveaway

November 23, 2012 by Nicole in Contests,Main,Wedding Films | 18 comments

If you’re avoiding the mobs of determined shoppers like I am today, then I think this post will help. We downright adore this behind the scenes video from our Yellow Rose of Texas shoot that Eleven 29 Films created for us. Little kids running around in yellow outfits, a beautiful real life couple and the sweetest details make our hearts happy every time we watch this.

Too cute, right? I love the song Eleven 29 Films used, too! We danced around the office a bit when we first heard it.

Now y’all know how we do it in the Southern Weddings office. This shoot was full of way too many cute details for us to keep them to ourselves. It’s giveaway time!

We’re giving away an adorable gingham ring bearer’s pillow from The Happy Couple, a boy’s bow tie from The Happy Couple, white 1-inch wide suspenders from The Suspender Store, the snappy Yellow Canary pocket square from Pierrepont Hicks, a sweet boy’s bow tie from xoelle and the lovely yellow rose tablecloth from House 8810 that we used for the kid’s table.

To Enter: Leave a comment below telling us what your favorite part of this feature is and which item you’d love to win.

Win: Six lucky people will win the item of their choosing!

Now that’s better than Black Friday mobs, isn’t it? Good luck, y’all!

Since we've already bought a yellow gingham bow tie for our little ring bearer, that ring pillow would just be the cutest! If not that, then the pocket square! Adorable!

V5 Behind the Scenes: Blue Ribbon Bounty

November 20, 2012 by Nicole in InTheOffice,Main,Wedding Films | 13 comments

It’s hard to not post these images without squealing a bit. (Don’t we always say that? V5 is just too good!) This shoot (nicknamed our “Pie Shoot”) was born from a whirlwind staff meeting that ended with a list of pies, a rough sketch of a layout and big, fat smiling faces all around. Though the images from this shoot aren’t going up until tomorrow (we like to keep y’all on your toes!), these behind-the-scenes shots from our dear friend Cyn Kain are full of the homey kitchen culture that we were after.

Our first stop of the morning was at PieBird in Raleigh to pick up two dozen delicious pies. Packing them into Emily’s car safely was a feat, but they made it to our office in Chapel Hill in one piece!

Setting the table for this shoot was like preparing for Thanksgiving, y’all! It felt like Thanksgiving, too, when we all sat down to eat. Yummm.

Are y’all seeing these angles? Joey and Jessica were shooting in Lara’s living room, letting us get a little creative with the space.

We were so lucky that Toni and Chris at Heart Stone Films could join us to capture some behind-the-scenes action and that Heidi and Melissa from the Carolina Inn were on hand to do some amazing food styling.

A food shoot ain’t complete without the SW ladies donning aprons!

Are y’all ready for more? Check out this adorable video from Heart Stone Films!

Cyn Kain is a fabulous member of our Blue Ribbon Vendor Directory!

Ready to order your copy? Be sure to place your order here before noon if you’d like to receive your copy this week!

November 19, 2012 by Nicole in Contests,Main,Wedding Films | 68 comments

It’s a bit cloudy around these parts today, so our Freshly Squeezed feature almost looks too good to be true! Y’all know we couldn’t pass on the opportunity to capture this bright and juicy shoot with a fun behind-the-scenes film from Cabana Pictures! After all, this shoot was bursting at the seams with citrus-y details and we loved see our friends who pulled it all together working their magic.

Eek!! Doesn’t it look amazing? Our models are way too cute for words.

Once we started getting props in the office for this shoot, we knew we had to find a way to share even more of it with y’all. I mean, constant squealing over our colorful props warrants a giveaway, doesn’t it?

We can’t wait to find new homes for these Freshly Squeezed items! The Tear Drop earrings from Pink Pineapple, the Fleur Drop earrings form Bridier Baubles and the aptly named Sunny Days bracelet from Francesca’s were among our favorites from V5.

To Enter: Leave a comment below telling us what you love about this feature and which of the pieces above is your favorite.

Southern Weddings V5: My Kentucky Rose Film

November 17, 2012 by Emily in Main,Wedding Films | 5 comments

Happy Saturday, guys + gals! The Southern Weddings crew is happily enjoying the weekend after a whirlwind few days of magazine launch, magazine shipping (like crazy — more on that next week), and magazine launch party! We couldn’t resist popping in and following up on Thursday’s gorgeous Kentucky Rose shoot by sharing the behind the scenes film, however. McKenzie Miller did a beautiful job capturing the day and all the work that went into it, despite the less-than-ideal weather!

McKenzie is actually a Southern gal herself, so we were so happy to find her in upstate New York (she actually lives in the city, but traveled for the shoot!). Big hugs again to everyone who brought this shoot to life!

If you haven’t got your paws on a copy yet, be sure to pick one up here or check your nearest Walgreens, Barnes & Noble, Food Lion, Harris Teeter, Walmart, and/or Target!

Kathleen Brown, November 18, 2012 1:38 pm   reply Just watched the lovely video of the Kentucky Rose Shoot! It was very, very pretty to watch. I was hoping I could find out who the singers are, and the name of the song! My fiance and I are a reunited couple, 35 years after our first romance. I would love to play this song, at some point in the events leading up to our wedding. I WILL make it work, just hoping you don't mind sharing this information. Thank you, and thank you for such a beautiful site. I am a first-time visitor, and I know I will spend countless hours here!! Sincerely, Kat
