Arney Walker Calligraphy is a studio based in Washington, DC. Arney is a classically trained calligrapher who does both traditional styles and work with a modern twist. Her goal is to deliver the best customer service to her clients; she wants all of them to feel like it was easy to work with her and then be thrilled about the final product that she delivers. In addition to invitations, envelopes, escort cards and other wedding materials, she also does custom work. Some of her recent custom work includes writing out vows and poems, writing on magnolia leaves, Spanish tiles, wood and other unique surfaces.

Things you’d write home to your Momma about: I’ve been on the Washingtonian Bride and Groom Best Vendor list since the first issue, I’ve worked at the State Department and for other government entities and am a member of IAMPETH (International Association of Master Penman, Engrossers and Teachers of Handwriting) and the Washington Calligraphers Guild.

How I got into weddings: I used to work at the Culinary Institute of America and fell in love with the hospitality industry.
Favorite thing about weddings in the South? I love the incorporation of traditional Southern comfort food!
Favorite part of a wedding day? The HUGE smiles on the bride and groom’s faces as they are recessing down the aisle.
Best piece of advice you can give to brides and grooms? Know your limits!
