Dear Wesleyann

Photography | Florida

For a girl who lives for laughter, craves creativity, is a lover of light, and believes in all things beautiful, I thrive on telling my couples’ stories through still frames! Building lasting relationships and creating compelling keepsakes for others is what steals my heart and sends it soaring. A wedding is about the bride and groom, their love, their families and friends… and somehow I just so happen to have the opportunity to capture those moments and emotions as they unfold! It may be possible that in the midst of all the wedding day excitement and emotion, I, too, can be found with a big grin and perhaps even a tear. It’s true… I love people in love!

Where you call home: Florida Panhandle

Location/coverage: Home is in the Florida Panhandle, but I shoot nationwide
How I got into weddings: Photography, art, and weddings have always been a passion of mine! With a communication degree and a love for weddings, the first “real” job I landed out of college was as a wedding coordinator at a resort. After having my first little one in late 2008, I realized coordinating was no longer a path for me to forge. Little did I know, the opportunity of being a wedding photographer with a dear friend was just around the corner! After a wonderful three years of shooting weddings with my best friend, the business ended up relocating to a new city. The beginning of 2012 brought about a new and unexpected path as Dear Wesleyann’s exciting journey began!
Favorite thing about weddings in the South? Southern charm, hospitality, and traditions… oh, and of course the sweet tea!

Favorite part of a wedding day? I was that 8 year old little girl who would look through magazines and be completely captivated! The look on the bride’s face when she sees herself in the mirror for the first time in her dress, the look on the father’s face as he glances at his daughter one last time before walking her down the aisle, the unpredictable flower girls and ring bearers, the way every groom plays with his new wedding band on his finger… the tears and laughter full of excitement and joy!
Best piece of advice you can give to brides and grooms? 1. Remember that no matter what, at the end of your wedding day the two of you are going to be husband and wife… and that’s what all this is truly about! 2. Book your photographer as soon as you have a date!! 3. Trust your wedding vendors!! When you trust them, amazing things will unfold!! 4. Wear waterproof mascara — then it’s okay to shed a few tears! It makes for some of the best photos!

Favorite Southern city? Charleston… I have yet to go there, but I’m pretty sure it would be my favorite!!

Succulents or peonies? Peonies make my heart melt!
