Hardink Calligraphy is a creative design studio specializing in custom calligraphy, handwriting, and illustration for weddings, businesses, and special events. My creative alternatives to traditional calligraphy allow me to celebrate the classic art of hand-written correspondence in a modern way. I put pen to paper from a home studio in Nashville, Tennessee, but work with brides and businesses all throughout the country. Starting in January 2013, six of my twelve lettering styles will be featured through Bella Figura, an artisan letterpress company in Syracuse, New York.
My lettering is always completed by hand with dip inks, and every bride receives custom work. I offer brides everything from full calligraphy wedding suites, partial calligraphy invitations, envelope addressing, down to favor tags and return address stamps for thank you notes. Planning a wedding is an extremely stressful time, so I am not only passionate about providing unique and beautiful pieces for every client, I am also committed to working with each couple to make the process as enjoyable as possible. A wedding invitation is a guest’s first impression of the couple’s big day, so my job is to make each piece shine!

Things you’d write home to your Momma about: Earlier this year I was asked to be a calligrapher for the letterpress invitation company Bella Figura. I’m so pleased that six of my twelve hands will be offered starting in January of 2013.

How I got into weddings: I got into weddings through my own personal wedding planning process. I was in search of the perfect invitation suite and I just couldn’t find anything that I felt fit our personality in the way that I wanted it to. After exhaustive searching I decided to create something myself. People loved the personality of my invitation, I realized I loved the process of creating it, and things just sort of took off from there.
Favorite part of a wedding day? The kiss! You can see the pressure, frustration, stress and anxiety of all of the planning and hard work they’ve put in to this day just fall off of the couple’s shoulders!
Dream travel destination? South Africa
Favorite Southern city? Greensboro, NC… It’s where I was born and raised. It’s where my family is. It’s where my heart is. I don’t get to go back as much as I’d like, but it’s always special when I do.
