Make Merry!

Invitations & Paper Goods | National

Hi there! I’m Laura McGlynn, a creative designer specializing in custom invitations, paper goods and decor for weddings and events. My core style is modern and eclectic with a sprinkle of whimsy, but my goal with every event is to discover what is special, unique and personal about those I’m designing for… and to bring it to life. If I had a motto, it would be: “do you.” I believe that the most memorable events are not trendy or over-the-top, but instead filled with personal, creative touches that clearly communicate who you are to your guests.

Name(s): Laura McGlynn
Where you call home: South Florida
Things you’d write home to your Momma about: I’m thrilled to be a Blue Ribbon Vendor! I’m also over the moon about my work being featured on amazing wedding blogs like 100 Layer Cake, Style Me Pretty, and Green Wedding Shoes.
Location/coverage: I meet my couples in a funky little studio in downtown West Palm Beach, but work with brides and grooms around the world – I can ship anywhere!
Favorite part of the wedding day: Watching the groom as his bride comes down the aisle – I cry every time. And if they write their own vows, I’m completely done in! I also love cocktail hour… especially when the couple is able to join in the festivities. The buzz of conversation, the happy newlyweds that can’t stop smiling, the anticipation of the meal and party to come – it’s such a great energy to be a part of!
Best piece of advice you can give to brides and grooms? Don’t be afraid to be yourself! Honor the traditions that have meaning to you and your love, but don’t fall into the trap of doing things because you feel you are “supposed to.” Take this one chance to honor your love and commitment to each other in a way that shows your family and guests who you are as a couple… and build memories that are timeless, meaningful, emotional and treasured.
Dream travel destination? My husband and I love to travel! We escaped to New Zealand, my first dream destination, for our honeymoon; I think our next adventure will be Chile, to explore the beautiful wine country and Patagonia.
Favorite Southern city? I’m a little obsessed with Charlottesville – all those beautiful rolling hills, the wine country, and the foodie scene! My love and I dream about buying some land (with a vineyard, perhaps?) there someday.
Pie bar or red velvet cake? Yum, a pie bar for sure! I like variety (and a flaky crust).
Pottery Barn or Anthropologie? Anthropologie, definitely! I’m totally smitten by their funky-cool eclectic mix of styles, fun colors and patterns, and all the global influences.
